EDITORIAL
The very essence of clinical investigation relies on cooperation.
Cooperation is essential to establish a scientific hypothesis to be investigated, and for protocol designing and implementation, patient recruitment, data analysis, and results communication and publication.
The Center for Research in Health Technologies and Information Systems (CINTESIS) hosted by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto is a multidisciplinary Research Unit gathering a large group of people of good will stemming from biomedical engineering and computer sciences, biostatistics, medical basic sciences, clinical sciences and other areas of knowledge, united by the links of cooperation.
This Research Unit aims to develop new technologies to be applied to health systems and to everyday clinical practice with Aging as particular area of interest, and a strong focus on Clinical Investigation.
The possibility of congregating different perspectives on a same problem under the same roof, bringing new and fresh looks originated from diverse areas of knowledge will certainly be a key to success in creating innovative solutions for patients, doctors and health care systems. The growing number of collaboration protocols the Unit has established with national and International partners, such as the Portuguese Society of Cardiology, will enhance this.
