“Norte 2020” initiative is part of the regional strategy for the North region of Portugal, throughout the period 2014-2020. Although focused on regional development, it will work alongside the Horizon 2020 financial instrument, to promote “intelligent, inclusive and sustainable growth” involving SMEs’, industries, Public Administration and other institutions.
Several tools, such as Co-Promotion projects or Innovation Vouchers, are particularly important to support productive investment in innovation, entrepreneurship and technological research in competiveness factors. Commonly known as “QREN projects”, they represent the best route to promote innovation in the industrial fabric, including SMEs’, through the use of incentives to companies for R&D projects.
The main conclusions of the reflection panels on Health and Life Sciences, Digital Growth for the North Region, Food and Agro-Environmental Systems and Broad Spectrum Technologies are in clear alignment with CINTESIS core competencies. As such, CINTESIS researchers can give important contributions to improve the region competiveness factors, thus continuing to promote technology and knowledge transfer.
