Do you know PT-CRIS?
At present, science and technology management involves multiple challenges and time-consuming tasks, which to some extent hinder scientific development. Among those challenges, researchers and science managers have to deal with accurately report to funders their scientific outputs (publications, citations, projects, patents, awards), benchmark with other researchers / institutions and disseminate the main conclusions to the general public.
This information is generally scattered along several databases, servers and in different data sets (e.g. the FCT has more than 100 databases related to Grant Management).
So, since 2014, the FCT-FCCN has started developing an ambitious project called PT-CRIS, which aims to establish a new scientific platform (CRIS is short for Current Research Information System) designed to be interoperable (i.e. one output will only be registered once and reused in several ways).
This new system is largely based on the information that researchers add to their ORCID, so CINTESIS researchers are encouraged to keep their registry updated, as it is pivotal to promote an evidence-based approach to research.
