S&T Week 2015
Semana C&T 2015

From the 23rd to the 29th of November during the S&T Week 2015 / Semana C&T 2015, scientific institutions, universities, schools and museums open their doors giving the public the opportunity to meet researchers, experts and see their work.

CINTESIS has once again embraced this initiative with 4 major initiatives.
In the event "Falei com um investigador … cientista!" / I talked to an investigator … scientist!" teachers/parents have the opportunity to invite our researchers to go to their schools and address key subjects in public health with school-age children, such as the importance of food supplements or the proper use of antibiotics. Professors Conceição Calhau, PhD, Acácio Rodrigues MD PhD and Carlos Sequeira PhD are among the CINTESIS researchers available to exchange their views with the participants.

In "À volta do cérebro / Around the brain", students in high-school can see and touch anatomical pieces of the brain and understand a little of how it works. Prof. José Paulo Andrade MD PhD and the researchers from NeuroGen help guide the students in this exciting journey.

"O Stress pode provocar ou agravar a Asma? / Can Stress trigger or worsen asthma?" is the question Prof. Lia Fernandes MD PhD will help junior and high-school students answer. She will also discuss with university students the "Psychossomatics of Asthma / Aspetos Psicossomáticos da Asma". Both of these lectures are the result of the project Chronic Diseases of the Airways - contents and tools for productive interactions between empowered patients and proactive professionals - coordinated by Prof. João Fonseca MD PhD and funded by the Harvard Medical School Portugal Program.

As always, these initiatives follow CINTESIS motto to "Create, Innovate and Disseminate".
